Sanguinea caresheet

Hi, Anyone keeing N. Sanguinea?

Please share your cultivation techniques or at least the environment you keep them:
1. Temp.
2. Humidity
3. Potting mix

I read it's a highlander, and my conditions here are strictly low land, I was told however that they will do okay in lowland conditions.

I grow a number of them, all grown in lowland condition.

The media I use are sphagnum moss + perlite (mostly TC plants) for plants grown under the pergola but I have to really monitor it closely, they are prone to dry-out especially during hot season like now. Pitcher sizes are about 3-4", some are beginning to produce intermediate/uppers.

Other plants are grown in clay-like media that I get from the the local aborigin seller. This plants are grown among shrubs & at the edge of the house (a bit shaded) and the pitchers are 4-5" and there are some 6-7" too :)

In regards to humidity, it's quite humid because I have a lot of waterplants in big containers around the area I plant them. I even have a long narrow aquarium right under the rack where I put some of the sanguinea & their hybrids.

This one is grown in the clay-like media, but I've topped it up with sphag. + perlite when I banged against the pot and strewn the plant & media all over the floor, what I salvaged was not enough to fill the pot!

One of my biggest pitchers, over 8"! The pitcher developed in highland condition, grew & opened in lowland.

I believe that we can grow them here in lowland with very much success, but the I don't think we'll get huge sized pitcher that we'd get in the highlands.

Anyway I'm doing experiment to see what's the max sized pitcher I can get.

your sanguineas are very beautiful, athene. i find a bit sensitive initially but once they adapt, they grow very well. for now, i got nothing to show, just green leaves.

they seem to love bright light too but not the heat that comes with it. without sufficient light, the leaves and stem will grow longer and longer and the whole plant will look quite ugly!

i always like sanguinea, the variety of colours is amazing.

My sanguineas are like Amelie's. The darker ones like Amelie's pics should actually be mixed with Ramispina and Marfaclaneii. Hence they are more to the brown/black/marron colour shades. One such plant I have produces pitchers up to 8 inches long from bottom to tip of peristome. Alot of my Sanguineas n their hybrids are still newly planted so some hasnt fully adapted. This takes time.

Thanks you guys, I feel better now! :)
Nice looking plants and pitchers there, thanks for sharing.

Managed to get a hold of one small plant and will try to keep it happy. Will repot once acclimatized.

My sangineas(or ramispina and their hybrids.) gro like crazy. My red and green sanguinea have invaded my ampullaria's pot. My temperature is around 28-35 during day and 22-25 at night. Potting mix for all CPs is LFS. Humidity 60% to 80%. Its now so hot in Batu Pahat. My school's field grass is brown and the soil have turn into sand!! My plants dry up so quickly.

Re: Sanguinea caresheet

My sanguinea (deceased) pitchers max out at about 2 inches, leaf span 3 inches. Managed to survive for four years before giving out (leaves and pitchers becoming smaller, gradual cease in growth. :spinning:The last time I measured the pitchers the size was like less than 1 inch, you could mistake it for gracilima. Previous 3 pots of green and orange varieties bought from cameron highlands also perish within a year. Guess other growers have better luck due to environment differences.
