Jeff, you can repot into a bigger pot and place the plant deeper in the media. Also when you place them in a bigger pot they grow bigger. Anyway, I realised my neps have growth season. At a certain point in their life, they would suddenly have a growth spurt. After that growth is very slow.
For my plants, usually when I do the following, it will encourage a sudden growth:
- repot into fresh new soil
- feed them with crikets
- They are getting more sun during the hot months
- For those in my terrarium, when I change to new lighting
- change the water source I use to water them. Only works if change to better quality water

You could do the mix which has almost everything in it. 1:1:1:1:1:1:1:1 Peat:Dried Sphagnum:Perlite:Washed Sand:Vermiculite:Washed Coco Peat:Crushed Pumice:Orchid Bark. And whatever else you could think of that they grow well in haha. I personally would just use a mix or Peat Moss:Dried Sphagnum:Perlite:Washed Sand:Vermiculite. Because I know where to get all that. Something that will hold water but is well drained so roots wont rot.

Media used were sphagnum moss, pine wood shaving and perlite.Sphagnum moss as topping to provide humidity to the plant. The coconut fibre was used during packaging to hold the media during shipment. You can take out the coconut fibre and left the sphagnum moss as topping. The media used will not hold water and base on my experience it will dry faster compare to the 100% usage of sphagnum moss.
I do not know why it took 4-5 days for poslaju to deliver the package (Friday to Tuesday) because most of the time it took only 2 days delivery from Malesiana - Kuching to KL by poslaju.

Most of my plants are with me in my apartment and there isn't much insects for them to capture. However, feeding your nepenthes makes the plant more robust and the leaves are greener. Same goes for my Sundews. They grow bigger much faster when I feed them.
Happy that your mixta x maxima is pitchering for you. Do you mean lower and upper pitchers rather than "lowland" and "Highland" pitcher?

In the greenhouse the plants may catch some things but certainly not that much. Theres still a colony of ants in there(I discovered a massive colony in one of my pots of Cymbidium Orchids, and after trying to get rid of them and their nest for over an hour theres still some there) so the Neps could feed on those via the lower pitchers, as they would be catching primarily ants and other ground crawling things in the wild through their lower pitchers. http://s3.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif

That is an interesting idea TS. The plants like it? Maybe I can use fish food as well instead of crikets. Sometimes the smell of rotting crikets ain't so nice in a small apartment.
Anyway, what type of fish food you use? What are the ingredients in the fish food?

I've never try those cheaper type, I find it a bit hard for fish. Maybe should try the medium range one.

Ooh, i see.. its just that i was once fell in love with aquarium fish too http://s3.images.proboards.com/grin.gif the fish food, which are for color enhancement i used for my neon tetras and discus are a bit expensive, and smells like dried shrimp. Cant remember the brand, but it is either made in Japan or Taiwan..
