Thanks for the feedback
Khoas: But this is nothing really. Wait till you see atcmmn aka Andy's collection. It's from whom I got the bulk of my tills .
Paphioboy: I was already leaving behind the wonderful world of phalaenopsis. Until one fine day I got thrown back in when my cousin dropped off a dessicated violacea at my house :glare:.
Guys, for pity sake I'm already being bombarded by tiny voices in my head screaming 'buy and try!!' or 'enough is never enough!!' It's like you're giving me that little nudge for me to fall off the cliff .
I'm still hanging on for as long as I can, but it won't be long now......:bored:

Re: Funkychips' Growlist

last time i used to do this . but now i just pun them on the multi-layer rack and sometime wrap the rack with the plastic wrap, the one people use to wrap food and put in fridge. It works

Re: Funkychips' Growlist

Nice terrarium setup !! But I still don't understand why you can't grow amps outdoor at your place in our climate... sooner or later, amps will outgrow your terrarium.

marvin1997 7th April 2010 03:48 PM

Re: Funkychips' Growlist

WOW!!! Nice amps!!

funkychips 7th April 2010 09:37 PM

Re: Funkychips' Growlist

Thank you all for the encouraging comments, appreciate it very much...

Edward: Lovely plants Fauzi has eh? Got my amps from him, but they look nice only coz they are still newly bought...!!! As for my case, I still need to observe them in the long run. Amp 'Giant Red' is the only one starting to show signs of growth, the rest are still slow and supposedly in shock..to the new environment...btw how's your northiana getting on?

Nepnut: You should have seen amps that grow outdoors in my garden. Their leaves will have a crinkled surface....how to describe....like papery texture, and pitchers small and stunted, they open prematurely and then turn black...:bored: Right now, I'm really hoping that they do actually outgrow my terrarium!!...but looks so far from it at the moment :crying:

cbkhoon: Cling-wrap you mean? But don't you find that it will stick together when you want to open up to water the plants? :spinning:I used it once for covering the top of the terrarium but the droseras started to rot due to the trapped stagnant air inside so I stopped using it...

allenphoon: Yup droseras are easily manageable in terrariums. You just need to top up their water trays and watch them grow and flower..

cbkhoon 7th April 2010 10:08 PM

Re: Funkychips' Growlist

yes.. i do wrap them but i leave some gap at top so hot air will escape can cold air will go in thru some vent from bottom. i left some gap at bottom too..i found humidity improve 5-10% by this method.

funkychips 7th April 2010 10:29 PM

Re: Funkychips' Growlist

Good idea, didn't think of that before....but must have my plants on a rack then, not in a terrarium...nevertheless will try this if I should be getting a rack...

cbkhoon 7th April 2010 11:00 PM

Re: Funkychips' Growlist

for terrarium, i advise u put a DC12V fan 45 degree blowing air into the tank, to improve ventilation, ur terrarium have 4 sides and only the top opened, there is no good ventilation there, hook it up to ur lighting timer will do the job

funkychips 7th April 2010 11:02 PM

Re: Funkychips' Growlist

But will it dry out the amps? As I tried that with the droseras and they all lost their dew....

u must adjust the angle loh.. dun let too much air blow-in,, or put vertical, sucking hot air up...try and error..

allenphoon 7th April 2010 11:14 PM

Re: Funkychips' Growlist

I interested in Drosera, if i want to plant them in outdoor? What other prevention method need to do except letting it have water trays?

cbkhoon 7th April 2010 11:21 PM

Re: Funkychips' Growlist

putting drosera at outdoor is good btu u need to shade it from rain and prevent wind blowing at them.. this is the headache part..

You can do so for seeds... Once it germinated, you need to give them direct sunlight... Enjoy.... :1thumbup:

Okay...thanks.... =)

Re: Funkychips' Growlist

I left my drosera capensis outside my new house unshaded from wind and rain. It's growing fine. Of course, if the droseras are small, wind easily blows them away .

Alvin, go check my northiana thread....hehehe i'll be experimenting a lot on northiana.
