S. purpurea and flava
 

Hey, i have those two Sarracenias for like a month, i haven't got them any food because i don't find any. It's starting to get a bit cold here and flies and bugs don't fly around anymore... I keep their soil as moist as i can, i give them like 5-6 hours of direct sunlight, and they went well until now. flavas are starting to get a rusty colour on their heads, and about purpurea, i don't know if it's just a regular pitcher dying or it's something wrong with it. it's one little dead head and a big one starting to die, rest are ok. And one more question. on my flava, arent' they too many heads? Any possibility to have more rhyzomes?

They're looking okay. The leaf dieback looks normal. Just the plant losing a couple of old leaves now and then. But I think your plants are not getting enough light. How much light do you provide?

4-5 hours of direct sunlight, not that intense, cause we're getting into winter season. Can i help this with any lamp? Any artificial light that might help? Thanks for the quick response btw :smile:
And one more question to repeat from the original post: Do i have more rhyzomes on flava? Should i separate them? It seems to me that they are too overcrouded and too many at one place...i can make more pictures if these aren't clear for you guys...

Oh, ok.... I don't think artificial lighting will help much if the weather is cold and plants are going into dormancy. I think you definitely have more rhizomes in the flava, but I would delay dividing them until they have come out of their winter dormancy period and have started to grow actively.

As they are my first plants that i own and get them to dormancy, i find the shady/less water method more secure than the fridge one. I was going to move them into the living room for one week, where they have less sun, but not pitchblack, then into the lobby, where they have very very little light. would it be ok? With giving them water one time a week, for 2-3 months. Then, as u said, divide the flava in spring? Sorry for too many questions, i just want them to live... i killed a VFT already cause of not knowing things and i don't want it to happen again :crying:

That should work well. I use the 'dry dormancy' method as you described f0r my very few sarracenia. Haven't lost any yet after 4 years.. :p

And btw, on the biggest head, it started to appear some white dots, like to a leucophylla. Any chance to change that drastically from this green to leucophylla? Giving that they don't get so much sun nowadays and it's still young. I'd be damn happy, cause that's my favourite :D
