A plan to repot my bical

Hi all, I was planning to repot my N. Bicalcrata when I'm free as soon as possible because the size never seems to grow since I got it last year, a few questions that I would like to ask:

1. I had been potting it at the side of the pot(twice), does it affect it's growth?
2. Can I keep it with a water tray at the bottom of it after I repot since I'm going to plant some live sphagnum with it?
3. How long should I leave it under shades after repotting? On usual terms, I kept mine for a month under shades before exposing to sun light, but I'm not sure if it's too long or too fast to do so
4. Is there any way that I can boost the growth of the the bical?

Thanks a lot, appreciate all replies:smile:

Re: A plan to repot my bical

1.I don't think potting them at the side affects anything, their roots can just grow to the other ares.
2.Since bicals are from swampy areas I think they can survive water logged conditions
3.Dunno :P
4.Don't disturb the roots!!

Wait for more experienced growers to answer first :P Good luck!

1. I dont think it will have some issues. But try to keep them on center next time.
2. Yes, I grow my Bical in a water tray and its growing like weed.
3. when I repotted my Bical I didnt have to change the environment it was growing in before.
4. I have placed a piece of osmocote in one of the pitchers of Bical and it seems that it likes it since the leaves are getting bigger. I
actually do this for all my neps, 1 pellet of osmocote in pitcher per plant.

thanks for the replies, hopefully everythings goes on well when I repot them in few days time, will try out fertiliser in the pitcher and see what happens:1thumbup:

one more question, regarding the water tray, may I know what is the water level of your tray as compared to the bical pot? thanks

Mine is about 1-1.5inches of water.... also I have mine overpotted. Also my mix is quite
soggy as I use pure cocopeat.

my pot is roughtly about 5 inches high 8 inches diameter. My mix is pure cocopeat, its
very soggy but it works for Bical and Amps.

orite, noted

LJ, haven't used any true fert yet as I only fed my nep with frozen bloodworm in those bigger size pitcher(ants will go in for suicide, serving same purpose) once in a while

I'm been introduced by a CP Pro to green orchid fert, with a few pallets of it crush into powder, mix in the large coke bottle and water cp with that occasionally
