Yah, oil palm plantation does that all the time. But my mom works in an oil palm company so I shouldn't really complain.

Malaysians shouldn't really complain about the oil palm industry as it has brought the country bank an running on 2 occassions earning much need foreign exchange then and is still is one of our major exports. However, it also damages the enviroment when opening new land.

Anyway, think we all can agree to leave this thread discussion about the Act. If someone has an urge to pursue enviromental issue, I recon a new thread is should be in.

More news. The orchid people has reached a settlement with the agriculture department.

There will be forms available to register our plants. However, they are yet to finalise the format of the form. The registered plants together with details of owners will go into DOA's (department of agriculture).

The Act aims to register the diversity of plants we have in Malaysia, as in create a database. So if there is a need for a certain plant, they would know where to find it. As to origin of plants, one can easily say "from my grandfather's collection" or purchased from Wistuba or Maleisiana tropical.

I would reiterate, there is no need to fret over this Act.

the registratoin is per plant basis or per species basis ? wat if i got thousands of seedlings ? :spinning:

Like I said, there is some sort of framework but still cannot examine with microscope.

The akta isn't really working here, and that's good! The nurseries are all still selling neps.
