Re: Pics during free time
hey, wanna ask what the secret growing the ampularia? mine with basal shoot easily become black, should i give it a plastic cover? the pitcher that produce just 1cm diameter....
|
Re: Pics during free time
Don't overwater it. Too much water causes smaller pitchers and rather deformed leaves. Otherwise, amps grow fine and are fairly hardy.
|
Re: Pics during free time
i was mixing it 60 sphagnum moss and 40 perlite, so far the pitcher that produce look smaller....will i have large pitcher with low humidity? it was placed at place with less air circulation, receiving bright sunlight from 12 till 3pm, other time will receive lower intensity of light....

wah...a tough thong to me, i never good in growing nepenthes...just managed to grow n.gracilis until it got 3-4cm pitcher...but some time things just din go well and all in sudden, it died and new shoots reappear...do not know the reason causing it, perhaps my place too hot? i am placing it on shaded area... |
Re: Pics during free time
my judith finn dies, then comes back from the dead via basal shoots, but they never grow and they dont pitcher....its the only one in the grow room that seems stunted, and i have had it over a year...i think i water it too much? dk for sure

Re: Pics during free time
Not much to do. Plenty of watering once a day and the occasional black ant into pitchers. My plant came about a foot tall 3 years ago. Had been growing well since, even had to cut of tall vines a few times. Using only sphagmum moss.

Re: Pics during free time
Oh yea forgot something, can anyone ID the flower cos i would really wanna cross it if its female
|
Re: Pics during free time
Nice neps Kenneth, glad to see they're doing well.
You flower could be a female but can't be 100% sure as there's only so little details available via pic and at the current stage (still early). I think after another ~7 days, should be able to tell for sure what gender it is. |
Re: Pics during free time
Thanks robert for the comment....Anyway i think i can ID it thats its a female...so if anyone has pollens im open :)
|
Re: Pics during free time
Kenneth, I got these pollen
1) N. boschiana (very limited qty) *biggrin2* 2) N. x kuchingensis "red pitcher, green speckled, maroon peristome" pic 3) N. sp Tiger / Giant Tiger "striped peristome" pic 4) N. mirabilis "Merah" pic 5) N. mirabilis "typical" 6) N. mirabilis var globosa x xkuchingensis pic 7) N. veitchii "pink" (MT clone) 8) N. veitchii "green" pic That's all I can remember for now :shy: |
Re: Pics during free time
Well its not yet opening any time soon cos the petals are all still very tight and the spaces between them are still short..But i think that mirabilis merah would be nice.
Out of curiosity, how do you store the pollen and how long can it be stored. |
Re: Pics during free time
I collected the pollen and store then in folded wax paper packet. Then stored them in a air tight plastic container in the fridge. If you keep everything dry, the pollen will at least last for 6-9 months.
Just inform me when your female flower is ready. Thanks. |
