The red colour leaves look like being exposed to too much heat or sun burn to me. The second pic is due to the tendril being dried up prematurely.*biggrin2*

Maybe rust spots or sunburn. My hookeriana and bical has some too but they are ok.

Re: Diseaser oh no !!

it look to me most likely as sunburn:
  • red color on the leafs+ the color is uniform on the leafs.
  • brown dry parts on the edges of leavs.
  • curling of the leafs.
it happend to me a few times in others plants when i exposed them uncarefully*biggrin2* to the sun.
i think your plant will be o.k
good luck.

Hi Minh,
I think it caused by environmental factor like others said. Is the weather there cooler and drier now?

TranMinh 1st January 2010 02:38 PM

Re: Diseaser oh no !!

The weather is some time cool most of day and hot in middle of day, it not really drier, humidify about 70% all day.

minh, the mirabilis was placed in the same location as other neps. Others don't develop the red coloration?

TranMinh 1st January 2010 11:18 PM

Re: Diseaser oh no !!

Other develop but not much like this mirabilis.

Re: Diseaser oh no !!

It's normal to see neps developed red coloration on their leaves on exposed to strong light, esp mirabilis due to their thin papery-liked leaves.

Nice red leaves mirabilis specimen Robert !!

The reason why I asked if it was raining or not it's because I saw sign of dry edges on the leaves and since it's a newly developed cutting, it might be due to acclimatising to the year end weather pattern (generally cooler with drier weather) that Vietnam is probably experiencing now.

I think the next few leaves will slowly developed into normal leaves. N. mirabilis is tough nep... don't worry.
