Triffid Park Visit (Image intensive)

Being unsure where to post this, I thought this is a neutral enough thread. My family and I went to Melbourne over the Chinese New year break. Visit Triffid Park courtesy of Adam aka strath76. Thanks again Adam. It was a wonderful trip until I realised that my camera was running out of battery..... forgotten to charge the night before. Here are some pictures while in Triffid Park, not many though...

Dionaea musipula Room

Drosera?? microscarpa I think

Drosera pygmaea (Kangaroo Island). Smaller than the one Adam and I found later in Langwarrin. The only pygmea found outside Western Australia from South Eastern Australia to Kangaroo Island, South Australia

Sarracenia Room

This is the most impressive room with hundreds of mature Sarra filling the trays with green and red colours

Many of them hybrids which is so rojak (mixed up) that I don't know where to start guessing.

Glad to be of assistance. The Drosera is D. dilatato-petiolaris.

Triffid Park is a retail/wholesale nursery located about an hour south east of Melbourne. Inspection is by appointment only. They do have a mail order service available.

lovely CPs Ban Aik.......the CP section in YG is quite similiar i think ( mebe smaller la ) except they specialise in neps. Triffid actually mixes up the sarracenias ? The ones which aren`t labelled. And they didn`t have my fav s. psittacina ?

Prices are very cheap ya.....

Re: Triffid Park Visit (Image intensive)

another question BA : how do the moving racks work ? esp for the sarracenias ? for the neps, i don`t see any wheels etc....

strath76 25th February 2011 03:10 PM

Re: Triffid Park Visit (Image intensive)

The nep racks don't move. The Sarra trays slide along. There is a fitted stand and on this are a series of racks that are on wheels. You can slide these along and create gaps to fit in to access plants. You may have seen a similar setup with file cabinets. Some offices have these. There were a couple of psittacina but we didn't see them till the very end.
