Ceropegia
I began collecting Ceropegia a couple of years ago. They are difficult to find, but they grow well in my subtropical climate, and a couple of them have actually bloomed. Here's Ceropegia stapeliiformis.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3452/...ab6ce112_b.jpg Here's a flower that just bloomed. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3408/...966ef698_b.jpg I was lucky that one of the flowers got pollinated. I didn't take a photo of the seed pod, but it was long and skinny. One day I noticed some cotton-like stuff on a nearby plant and soon realized that the seed pod had opened. I don't know how many seeds flew away, but here's one that didn't. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3506/...b477f06e_b.jpg I planted the seeds that I could gather, not expecting them to grow. But a few of them actually germinated, and it took only about a week. Here's a seedling that is a few weeks old. It's about an inch tall. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3433/...328a084f_b.jpg Here's a flower of another plant, Ceropegia ampliata. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3254/...d2020d74_b.jpg I hope a few more people are now interested in Ceropegia. |

Re: Ceropegia
JK, very nice plant indeed :1thumbup:. Sometimes back I got a chance to grow the Ceropegia. But the growth decline day by day and finally it died back. Not sure if it is not suitable for tropical climate or I used a wrong growing method.

Re: Ceropegia
Han, Maybe I made an adequate growing medium just by chance. It is quite free draining, about 3 parts lava cinder and 1 part commercial compost. The plants are in bright shade. Like you, I live in a topical climate, so I hope you have another chance to grow ceropegia.
