Why many people is out from Petpicher forum?
 

Nowsaday,

There is less and less people at PP (especially senior guy). Any idea what happen. I think we really need to do something to make the forum workable. You can post it here, PM me or email me at caseyhoo @ yahoo.com :1thumbup:

Intention of this thread is to find out what exactly happen, fixed it and not blame others. :1thumbup:

The problem is everyone has become busy! A member told me he just don't have time for these plants anymore. It's tragic. I guess most of the moderators are busy too since I never see them online.

Working maybe not like me still schooling and am always online too much in fact. I don't think its anything wrong with the forum its just a person's choice to come in or not.

I think if one is really interested and enjoy being in PP, one will make the time to come in even he/she is really busy... What happend to PP or is it because in Malaysia there's just not enough ppl interested in CPs??

sometime ppl maybe busy to post something or have nothing to post, but they still around in PP browsing and reading other ppl's thread.

I guess below reason :

1. '后浪推前浪'?
2. busy of work
3. no activity
4. In Malaysia very hard to get new species CPs plant
5. The price was still very high if compare to oversea

Yeaps Tan, like me, I only have time to access the forum after work which is way late after 7, so by the time I'm checking threads, most of them have already been replied, so I just sit back and read the info posted. :shy:

I think is just a matter of wave.
The crisis is recovering, if they are involving with manufacturing,etc related then I think they are very very busy right now.
I believe most of them are still on line but not as frequent liao.

I think, it is because there is no or less activity to promote CP hobby. CP nursery must do something on this. May be having a short term CP show, or seminar...

That akta is probably going to make matters worse. Let's hope it does not affect our hobby, since our plants are not from the wild.

but how can we prove it? if they really investigate, how we gonna clarify ourselves?
if they really wanna to preserve nature, i do not even think that they have the intention doing that except putting anothers money in their personal pocket

i think 1 of the reason forum getting less activities is becoz many people hv moved to FB, sharing their photos and comments among their own friends.

We need to cultivate the CP hobby in Malaysia. Would be good if we started off at some places like schools.

IMHO, its not that at all.

Just that CP needs time to grow and if there is no problems, there is no need to post and ask for assistance.
Same for its development, dont think anyone would be posting their plant's development every month. It would be a little tedious and boring both for the owner as well as other forummers.

As to purchases of new plants, how often do we do it? No new purchases equals no pictures to share.

As the CP enthusiast circle is pretty small in Malaysia, most of us log in to read now and then only.

As t the Act being enforced and its affect on CP keeping, I have until today to view a full copy of the Act. Have done some searches on the net but have not been able to get the whole document with the list of flora and fauna that is in question.

just when the information start slowing down...people go for other forum...

it's a cycle, a bad cycle, when the top guns in the forum started to slow down with some reasons like lacking time, have other commitment, or having cp as a compliment item to other main plant, the input of new information will decrease, as for newbie, when info is lacking, they go for other forum for info

also, being a "cp" forum, nepenthes section seems to be the only section that is active, others like ping, ultric and so on seems a bit cool down

can we have color change for forum pls, black and oranje makes my eyes sore after staring at it for more than 30 minutes, sorry for that

sometime one may have more than 1 hobby.. i myself jump from car hi-fi forum to aquarium forum then now to CP... hehehe but i wil still keep an eye on the old one

Well nep forum is most active cause neps are native in malaysia and SEA so its easier to grow them and also mostly grown.

I have too many hobbies. I jump from gaming/animating/3D-modeling forum to Plants forum and then to Papercraft blogs.

My personal take on this is that neps are popular because they're not just easy to grow, but are also large and very showy. Its not just malaysia and SEA, but in overseas forums neps are very popular too and its those sections of CP forums that generally have the most activity. Same goes for Sarracenia for overseas forums - easy to grow in their climate and also large and showy.

Compare this to the much less popular stuff: Utrics mostly look like pond scum when not in bloom, with a few exceptions, while many Pings are tiny and/or look relatively normal.

Its a pity that the forum is relatively quiet, but at the same time, I'm glad for the lack of politics and that kind of stuff on this forum.

i came from other forum..
and i have join a lot of forums before, and also made my own forum of Astral Projection (check the link at my signature)...
my thought is:

people out of this forum because:

1. have joined other forum, for new hobby like looking after pets..
2. facebooking!:blink::blink::blink:
3. it is because of time..
4. few of replies in threads, so people get bored..
5. few of new info..
