Re: PP Northern Group Proposed Outing
Think we'll just bring our own food and you like bring some to share with others. I am gonna bring fishing rod and some lures. As a show of generosity, I am gonna share what I catch with all others. That is if there is a bite...
|
Re: PP Northern Group Proposed Outing
BA, make sure them lures are something that we can turn to food in case there's no bite
|
Re: PP Northern Group Proposed Outing
Lures are plastic lah. Maybe bring hooks with fish meat.
|

Re: PP Northern Group Proposed Outing
Hi Guys,
If you are going on the 8th, please be reminded that it is Thaipusam day so try to avoid jam at Jalan Utama (The road leading to waterfall hotel then to Botanical Garden). Try to use other route. I have been observing this outing thread for sometime now but won't be joining because I am not free for those two weekends. Anyway, enjoy the trip guys and have fun. Oh, if you guys are car pooling, remember to put on the seat belts yar. Cheers |
Re: PP Northern Group Proposed Outing
I plan to take the coastal highway -> jetty -> up to Northam Road (Jln. Sultan Ahmad Shah) via Macalister Road -> Gurney Drive -> Tg. Tokong.
Going by the outskirt, trying to avoid all the main 'attraction' roads. Other choice would be going through Balik Pulau straight to Teluk Bahang, but we are rendevous-ing at Eric's 1st, might take that route on the way back. |
Re: PP Northern Group Proposed Outing
Athene you can do your balik pulau route. We'll meet you at jetty.

Thanks to the organizer/s,
We had a great day although I drooled but did not partake of the very attractive beef mee rebus by AhTin plus ice cold drinks !!! Very informative sub-session @ Eric's place & presents & sales |
Re: PP Northern Group Proposed Outing
it was a good trip....
learnt many things !!! when is the next one ??? |
Re: PP Northern Group Proposed Outing
Thanks to Bactrus for organising the trip. Enjoyable walk and pleasant company. Lesson learnt....resist temptation, leave the plants in situ.
|
Re: PP Northern Group Proposed Outing
We both had a wonderful time, thanks to everyone who helped! It was wonderful meeting so many new friends.
Kudos to Ban Aik for making this happen. And Peter, it's linguine lah! Hope it didn't give you tummy-ache ;) |
Re: PP Northern Group Proposed Outing
Haven't had time to go thru them photos, will upload them soon
Oh boy, those baby Pandanus are really sharp, I'm covered in cuts all over my arms & foots! And the face too :glare: But it was all worth it! |
Re: PP Northern Group Proposed Outing
Athene, you make it sound like we went thru a jungle. Next time we walk there. My mother enjoyed her walk there today.
|
Re: PP Northern Group Proposed Outing
Ain't I the Drama Queen :shy:No worries, if your mom can do it, I will do it!
Heheheh, but it did have a bit of Indiana Jones kinda-feel anyway. And I think I left the tabasco where we had lunch, people will be wondering which 'monkey' have their meals with it deep in the jungle  And you know what, I think we might have a new CP-fan, Zz has started sprouting CP names, there was hope after all  |

Green ampullaria. Itchy hands must have tried to look what's inside the pitchers, breaking them to pieces in the process. And I'm not talking about monkey's hands even though we are dealing with monkey's pots here  https://forum.petpitcher.net/pict...&pictureid=590 Lord of the nepenthes, https://forum.petpitcher.net/pict...&pictureid=591 which Lim was making offering to. Lim, what did you offer? Your life & soul or your firstborn   |

We only came across this red gracilis after being all excited about the tiny tiny green ones that we found prior. https://forum.petpitcher.net/pict...&pictureid=594 https://forum.petpitcher.net/pict...&pictureid=596 That huge black thing snaking on the ground IS the gracilis stem! It must have been bigger than 50 cents coin in diameter! |

Green ones seem to grow on one side of the path and red ones on the other! https://forum.petpitcher.net/pict...&pictureid=592 Sorry not so clear. |

One of the rivers we crossed, it was like being in another world. https://forum.petpitcher.net/pict...&pictureid=598 The beach where we rested & chit-chatted about what else, CPs! I had a truly lovely time with the best company, will do it again in a heatbeat. |

Hi Athene,
Nice pics. I also enjoyed the trip as well. Nice to have meet you all. :1thumbup: I got a closer shot of this little toad seeking shelter from scorching sun and dry weather.... Attachment 1210 Look at Lim .... I do hope whatever he wished for will come true... kekeke *biggrin2* Attachment 1211 Just to point out, from what I observed for both wild and cultivated specimens, most N. gracilis will have green intermediate/upper pitcher. The lower ones will tend to be darker color (ie. brown, purple or red) sometime with spots. *biggrin2* |
Re: PP Northern Group Proposed Outing
Revisited the mystery Utricularia in secret location.
http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...m79/ukera4.jpg The leaves are look like Glossostigma. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...m79/ukera3.jpg I found the flower this time! http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...m79/ukera2.jpg It's a nice purple little flower. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...m79/ukera1.jpg Most probably U. uliginosa. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...im79/ukera.jpg |

Re: PP Northern Group Proposed Outing
That is Utricularia??. I tried growing them but all died off. Must be the temperature of the water I guess. Anyway, I see you've found that place too. There is another location with bigger population too..*biggrin2* Don't know whether this is the place!
