It's a gloriossa lilly. I can't remember the latin name but it grows wild here in Thailand. Tends to pop up on roadsides and disturbed areas and is somewhat difficult to transplant to where you 'want' it. It has a small bulb/corm and best luck has been marking the plant with a stake and then digging the bulbs after the foliage dies back. There are a couple (at least) variations in coloration; the one in the photo and another that's mostly yellow with just a touch of orange, and very rarely (here anyway) a red version. They make great cut flowers in a vase, lasting pretty well.

They are 'sometimes' available in garden shops and mail order 'web shops' that sell bulbs like tulips, daffodils, etc. Otherwise, keep your eyes open on the roadsides as they are mostly growing like weeds!

This Gloriosa superba is easy to grow from its tuber. I have seen it growing wild in Seremban.

Harnsheng, gimme a call when you get back to Penang. I'll dig one out from my mother's place. FYI, they are not as wide spread as Thailand but are available. I rescued mine from being poisoned at work.

talking about poison, the gloriosa is a toxic plant - especially the tubers.
