But, most of time, I always lazy to do so. You can see the difference in 2 week time. |
Re: new killa in da block
I feed meal worms every month.
|
Re: new killa in da block
I guess I've overfed it with half the number of trap eating a variety of meat stuff like flies, spider and giant ants
|
Re: new killa in da block
the rainy weather hit for the past 2 weeks, and now...the trap closing up at the speed of...slow motion(like Keanu Reeves in Matrix), could it be preparing for dormancy?:sweating:
|
Re: new killa in da block
Your plant was confused by the cool weather, it is now most probably going dormancy.

Not with the water tray anymore.Just water it every few days like that.(but don't let it dry out, like mine and the shpagnum moss shrunk back)

Re: new killa in da block
right now venus flytraps are buried under snow here in my yard, and they are dormant. Your best bet is to put him in the crisper of your fridge, and seal him in a one gallon plastic baggy. fungicide is best, especially for dormant species like pitcher plants and some forms of sundews. hope this helps
|
Re: new killa in da block
My first survived then it died when i tried it again...frustrating
|
Re: new killa in da block
mine is gone for a month plus now, did not make it under dormancy...
|
Re: new killa in da block

Re: new killa in da block
I personally find VFT to be quite a PITA to grow, especially if grown exposed to the elements. I have killed two of them, both slowly shrinking and looking pretty miserable until they finally KOed. I find sarracenia much easier to put through 'dry dormancy', with higher survival rates and they grow much more vigorously..
|
Re: new killa in da block
yeah...i personally would not advise dry dormancy, pitcher plants and venus flytraps need cold and shorter days of light, as thats how they usually flourished in the US. Im tellin ya. crisper in your refrigerator is next to best or nothing, and if you do experience like 7 ft of snow, then mulch with pine tree boughs, you can make a protective bubble against dry freezes and sorts. Make sure you pile it high, and its good for acidity, so you dont have to worry about minerals seeping through to your plants.

Re: new killa in da block
