« Thread Started on 19 Jun, 2007, 23:41 »hello everyone,

we got a D. spathulata from tarence and it was happy and healthy until now. it's even flowering, with two tall stalks. was away for the weekend and when we got back yesterday, it didn't look too good.

some of the leaves lost their dew, especially the ones at the outer-ring and underneath, and there are many teeny tiny bugs!!

muka ketupat tried to repot it just now, and discovered loads of these small, white bugs in the planting medium. soaked it in water, and more floated up. even small wings! aphids don't have wings right?

what could they be? how should we try and get rid of them? panicking like crazy...

at the moment, they are soaking in the water. any advice appreciated! thank you!

They may LOOK innocently un-affected but the roots area could have the bugs. You could try basic normal soap foam to kill them off if you don`t want to use the stronger insecticide. It`s a mild solution. Just cover the cp with the foam...this is normal hand washing soap bar foam yah, not clothes washing powder.....

BTw, have you folks moved yet to the new place ?

Yes some aphids do have wings-there is a type of aphid called a "whitefly" that has white wings(hence the name)
