Sure will reply. But, it is better you drop a call to him. Then, he will re-act imediately.

Hello Aaron. Most nurseries in Penang carry nepenthes, which I think is good to start with. But if you are looking for some specific species, it may be difficult to source. VFT seems to be seasonal. Nurseries have them, but not all time. I did not visit Eric before though.

I've found some pitcher plants at the botanical garden nursery. However they are not in good condition. I went to the one at Lip Sin garden but the plant isn't available. I am also trying to hunt for some peat moss and perlite. I am not sure whether they are available in Penang.

I've got my first pitcher plant from a stall near the botanical garden.

I bought peat moss and perlite from Jusco, Queensbay.

I am using sphagnum moss. Is it safe? I don't see any perlite at Jusco? Is it placed on the same shelf where the sphagnum moss is?

Hi aaron86.. welcome to PP! :) Sorry from the late welcome.. which part of PP are you from..? I'm from the mainland.. I agree that eric's place is a good start to look for CPs. Other more common nepenthes to start with and easily available in most places (even supermarkets!) is Nepenthes gracilia, albomarginata, ampullaria, rafflesiana, ventrata, Miranda etc. The best place and time to buy CPs is the Penang Flora Fest which is held every June/July at the botanic gardens..
