Edward's terrarium for HL CPs.......
4 Attachment(s)
Hello guys.........
After spending three hours today, I finally completed my first HL terrarium. Pheww.....anyways, I plan to put my (Secret Nepenthes) in this terrarium and any HL CPs that I get in the future. The dimensions of the styrofoam box is roughly 2 feet in length, 1.5 feet in width and 1.2 feet in height. I know it kinda looks crude......but I just used a simple knife to cut and shape the whole terrarium! Ok...... https://forum.petpitcher.net/attachme...1&d=1228313821 Top view of the terrarium. https://forum.petpitcher.net/attachme...1&d=1228313821 These are ventilation holes. Located on the sides of the boxes, total four of these holes. I use styrofoam cubes to plug the holes. These holes are to ventilate the whole terrarium during the daytime. I plan to leave all four open during the day. https://forum.petpitcher.net/attachme...1&d=1228313821 Side view of the terrarium. https://forum.petpitcher.net/attachme...1&d=1228313821 Comparing the terrarium with my hand......beside is the handy knife that I used to dice the whole terrarium.....:laugh:I mean cut..... Notice the plates in the terrarium filled with water? If you are wondering what they are for, I am actually trying to increase the humidity of the terrarium first. It should be ready tomorrow for my HL CPs. I also filled the floor with perlite. Any suggestions to improve the terrarium will be greatly appreciated. I hope all of you guys can give me an idea how to improve the terrarium, although not now. I do not want to use any electrical items at all. More updated pictures of the terrarium will follow tomorrow when it is ready. Thanks Cheers |

Re: My terrarium for HL CPs.......
Edward,
Unless you are really tight on money, I suggest you replace the plastic sheets with 2 cut acrylic. You can get them from most places dealing with advertising/signs. A 5mm thick sheet shouldn't be expensive. You can stick them to the foam box by double-sided tape. Choong |
Re: My terrarium for HL CPs.......
Hi, kenneth.....
For the transparent plastic, I used the plastic packaging from the toilet rolls. It is the plastic covering the cover. For the sides, I am using the wrapping plastic used for food. I am putting it near my sliding door where it gets the best light but the temperature is around 26-28 C. My secret nep is nepenthes alisaputrana x fusca x kinabalueis x lowii x rokko x rafflesiana x truncata x edwardsiana. Cheers |
Re: My terrarium for HL CPs.......
kltower, I am using double sided tape to stick the plastic. I tried using stapler, and it came off in a jiffy.
Kenneth, forgot to tell you, I think I will put some HL neps and some other CPs like darlingtonia and heliamphora. If I get them........ Cheers |
