Need help to identify problem

My VFT has been growing poorly lately. Firstly the traps are more semi-open and quickly turns black. I fed a life mosquito larvae after a new trap open for a few days and after a week or so the center of the traps start showing a single black dot in the middle and few days later all turn black. Is the food i fed it too 'nutritious' for it or it showing sign of dormancy? I do notice in slow growth though. Any suggestion greatly appreciated.

My advice is better no feed them because we may over feed - plant will dead.

Ok thx for the advice. Maybe the larvae is too much for this little guy, i should stick with feeding ants like i used to but not now . Hope it get well soon.

The plant didnt show any sign of dormancy yet... At least from the photo. ;)

For now, just stop feeding it and see what will happen.

If want to feed yours VFT, just feed 1 trap each time is enough. Dont feed too frequence. once weekly or once every 2 week is more then enough.

Cheersss...

The way I know that your plant looks healthish is that it has one new almost open trap and there are a few new leaves growing, check those often and if they are growing, then your plant is fine.

I don't think one Mossie larvae will give it indigestion :)

i agree with Arvin.

if u just show the pic to us without telling us theres problem on it,it look healthy to me.and the Red colour on the plant tells ur giving it great sun!

well, all I can say is, nice vft, fry it under full sun with a water tray...

feeding wise, one or two trap will be enough, leave the rest alone for sun fry

black spot? more likely to be the remaining of the digested foods, this happens to bloodworms that I fed, if it is some sort of black spot bigger than what you fed, could be a form of fungus/pest...cut it off :)

a master once told me a healthy vft consist of 7 living leaves at once or more and new growth, your's seems to fit the criteria :)
