walking up the mountain
 

walking up a mountain for landscape photography and the same time searching for interesting plants and insects.

There are neps on the lowland but due to the walking distance up to the ridge, in order to be with the group, i give it a miss and will return some other day.

It wasn't a beautiful day,sky was cloudy and light was soft. The weather since oct., 2009 has been overcast with rain. Though sunlight isn't strong and contrasty it was perfect for nature photography. The cool air present a comfortable walk right up to the ridge approx 2700ft asl.

At the ridge where we were taking position for photography were numerous D.burmannii. For ordinary visitors not knowing the existence of them, many were stumbled on.

This was the highest elevation where burmannii thrive, but they are no difference from those found on lowland.

At 2600ft right up to the ridege were also the main habitat of N.hirsuta, many matured, judged by the numerous young plants.

The mossy forest beyong the ridge approx 2500ft was a small patch of habitat for N.tentaculata.

spotted a no id millipede up the tree, wondering what it does up there. They only forage for food on the ground, no?

As i predicted the sunset won't be spectacular, but photography has always been fun and challenging. we can always come back on another fine day, maybe with enough time and strenght attempt the highest peak for N.veitchii at approx 3200ft.

Great report Robert, I really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the day I visit Borneo and see those plants by myself.

Nice photos there, Robert. Perhaps next time I will visit these mountains. Which mountain did you climb and it belonged to which 'Banjaran'? :smile:

Hi all, thanks for reading. like most mountain the clmb was tiring but we pause and rest whenever we feel like. This mountain take approx 2 hrs to reach the edge. The difficulty to climb will depend on the length and topography.
