New bie with question
Hi all, I am new in this hobby (actually not into it yet :blushing:). I plan to get some drosera and vtf soon and I got a few questions here before I wet my hand on this *biggrin2*.
First, the media for cp, most of the info I found on the internet say mixture of peat moss/sphagnum moss with sand/perlite, but how actually I need to mix them? Just mix it directly or divide them layer by layer like putting media in a canister filter? Sorry, I know this question is stupid but I really never see a live cp before, I'd visited a few nursery here but no luck. Compare peat moss and sphagnum moss, which 1 is better? How long do I need to change the media? Thanks. |
Re: New bie with question
1) Just mix it. No need divided.
2) Not much different to Drosera and Dionaea according to my experience 3) Half to 1 year depend on your moss quality. |
Re: New bie with question
Thanks Prof Lim.
Can I use java moss as the media? Any recommended drosera species for a newbie? |
Re: New bie with question
Better use sphagnum moss or peat moss. I never try Java moss. Don't know whether it is suitable for cp.
If you can provide full sun. D. burmannii, D. spatulata, D. intermedia is easy for beginer. If your place is shade, you can try D. adelae. * I am not a prof. |

there's pro and con of seed grown vft, if you bought seeds of vft typical, you might not be disappointed, but if you bought other variety one like red dragon, shark tooth and so on, chances are it will turn out to be a mix of different thing or might not even have what you want... |
