« Reply #1 on 21 Jun, 2007, 18:26 »I think it`s used more as a decorative item rather than for serious hobbyist. Poor plants, looks like abuse & un-natural to me. I have bought flask CPs before which come in gel medium but I won`t grow my droseras in it..... Link to Post - Back to Top http://s3.images.proboards.com/ip.gif LoggedDavid

« Reply #3 on 22 Jun, 2007, 14:23 »beside the gel medium, this could be a way to quarantine your plant while it weak, propagation period or some others issue, like you are away from home.
And this could be good practice to give away to beginner as a gift form. Link to Post - Back to Top http://s3.images.proboards.com/ip.gif LoggedDavid

« Reply #4 on 22 Jun, 2007, 16:51 »Just worried if long term, this situation will affect the plant. Don know the gel allows enough air for the roots. Link to Post - Back to Top http://s3.images.proboards.com/ip.gif LoggedMy Wantlistzakhren

« Reply #5 on 24 Jun, 2007, 0:18 »It could be possible to grow the plants in the gel i guess. They don't need that much nutrients or anything. But you can't sit the gel in water (don't think so anyway it'll become too liquid to hold the roots?...), so you can't give it much sun or it'll die so the plants would end up greener and weaker. My guess anyway. Never used gel for anything I find it unnatural...
