Utricularia dichotoma
My dichotoma has just started flowering for the first time since I got it early this year. It has been growing well and covered the pot with leaves but these are the first flowers I have seen from it.

Re: Utricularia dichotoma
The flowers are beautiful. Nice utric, Strath.
I am a bit surprised that the flower stalks are so tall. Are they usually like this? |

Re: Utricularia dichotoma
I agree, the flower stalk is tall, I thought usually the utrics grow flowers up to 10cm only, seems like I have underestimated.
Nice utrics, good luck in growing Cheers |
Re: Utricularia dichotoma
Thanks everyone. TS, involvens looks as thoughit has a large yellow flower from what I can see. I don't have this one yet.
Edward, many utrics have large flowers. Reniformis is one that has very large flowers on long stalks. They are reminiscent of an orchid. There are several others as well that have large flowers on long stalks. I think that humboldtii is supposed to have the largest flowers. This utric is usually found growing in the cisterns of bromeliads in it's natural habitat (specifically Brocchinia). |
