Lim,

can you please give us tips on how you are cultivating them? I have lost my first Ceph last summer, brought all the way from Thailand to boot :( Would be nice to know how to do it right next time :)

Ceph doesn't require dormancy, though they can go through dormancy. That's what I read from the Savage Garden book.

Re: Dormancy and cultivation questions

Cephs dont need domancy, unless you are going to flower it. Even if you got the seeds, it is very hard to germinate in our asia tempreture. If your bed room is airconed, just sleep with it. High day temp is ok even with morning sun. Just make sure night time there is a drop in temp of ard 8-10 degrees. The only issue is if you want it to have bigger pitches. higher humidity gives you bigger pitches.
So, grow it in a uncovered tank with the pot on some pebbles. Have water in the tank without touching the pot. This ensure there is sufficient humidity and it is cooling for the cephs. Without cover will let it have air movement, so no mildew will set in. If your bed room dont have any nature light, then maybe add in a set of diy PL 2 x 36watts. Let the lights be ard 1 feet away from the cephs. This way you will get large colourful pitches. The media is another issue. Try to grow it in a more airy mix, pls avoid perlite, as we are growing it in asia.
