here is a recent photo of my sarras flower i took this morning b4 i go 4 work...the flower bud looks like it's going to bloom anytime soon...
Need advise.Should i pollinate the flower or it will self pollinate? i read at wikipedia saying that the flower of sarras are design so that it will not self pollinate... http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uplo...1190da7776.jpg |
Re: My Sarras are flowering...yeh...
you should pollinate it manually, to increase seeds production....

Re: My Sarras are flowering...yeh...
Zul : the s.flava & purpurea seeds looks like almonds but way tinier, .....brown coloured....hybrids` seeds look anything between a cashew nut & peanut.
if you crush the seed pods, you`ll be able to spot them as the seeds are quite tough & can`t be crushed easily unlike the seed pods. i either just scatter the seeds & let them try to grow or if i`ve got time, i`ll use the clothes bleach method to clear off the seed shell. |
Re: My Sarras are flowering...yeh...
sorry, but i think that freshly harvest sarracenia do not require any treatment, i did sow them before, and having 80% germinated within one week sowing time..
and sarracenia require pollination in order to have viable seeds, you can manually pollinate it and beware of water, it will ruin the pollination, if you had success pollinate it and when it ripe, you will see 2-4mm seeds |
