Re: Nepenthes seeds for sale
I usually sow the seeds on moist coco peat. No cover because the humidity in my place quite high. Put them under 70% shade. Germinate in 1 - 2 months time.

1. When you said moist coco peat, do you soak-then-drain, water-till-wet, or spray-until-top wet? 2. Is it a good idea to hand spray on top of seeds? Of course nozzle will be at min size to create mist-like, but will the water pressure from spray hurts the potential seedlings? |
Re: Nepenthes seeds for sale
1. Soak then drain.
2. Yes. You can hand spray the seeds. It won't hurt the seedlings. |
Re: Nepenthes seeds for sale
You can also use water tray. Hmmm.... Let's start a poll on this

Re: Nepenthes seeds for sale

Re: Nepenthes seeds for sale
Bactrus, point us to the poll if you have set it up :)
For me, I use the water tray method and Cocopeat. How do I know if it is too wet? When molds start to grow, then it's too wet :( How do I know if it is too dry? If the cocopeat on top is light brown and you can blow on them and they move! :( Water tray, probably best if you let the water tray dry out for one day before replenishing. Make sure you have at least 3 inches height of cocopeat medium or else it might get too soggy/wet. Water tray is 1/4 inches high or less. I also often put a humidity dome on my seeds, they seem to like it when I do, but maybe also because it lessens the amount of sunlight a bit. TTFN Arvin |
