Anyone else know what other useful CP books i can get and where? That focuses more on vft and sundews..

We saw a copy there at the PJ outlet, the one in The Curve. i`ll be at KLCC today, if I have the time, I`ll check at Kinokuniya to see if they have it there. I`ll sms you if I see it. Ok x ?

So far, I ONLY use Savage Garden for all my references but if you are more into Neps like David, then you`ll probably need other books.

Perhaps you can call them up first and ask. YOu can find nepenthes books there.

All of us who own one would swear by it for guidance on CP care......quite detailed & informative. I bought mine for rm70 3 years ago. The price has gone up since.

That is "THE" book to get if you want a comprehensive book on CPs. It is also written for laymen like us who does not want to be bog down with scientific terms etc.

Bifurcatum, for the CP books you can surf the website of natural history publication from sabah. it offers a lot of CP books. there has nepenthes of *****ular malaysia, nepenthes of sabah and nepenthes of sarawak. each are sold for RM 20 each. if you were a student, just request them to give you a discount. you can pay through bank transfer to them. you have to pay the postage fee too.

The first time i read the book is at a university library. Like u, i intend to read the book first. I must admit that it is the best book (for now) in keeping carnivorous plants, focusing on CPs other than Neps. However, there is a chapter focusing on Neps, but it is not as comprehensive as Charles Clarke's books.

Haha it has all the info you need to know about alot of species. After reading it it increased my interest in utricularias though. Now I want some haha. But really in my opinion, if you can only have 1 book on carnivorous plants, get The Savage Garden. It even has a sections at the end of each species chapter that gives a table of the info about how to grow the plants from soil recipes, to light, to terrariums, windowsill, outdoor and bog garden compatibility, and more.

When I got my box of presents she hid it at the bottom underneath everything too so I didn't see it at first. Then as I dug through I saw the word Savage and I was so happy~! XD

But as any book goes...there ARE mistakes in it, so please dont think that Peter D'Amato is right about every single method. For example, he says Pinguicula gigantea is the only known Pinguicula with sticky leaves on BOTH sides...it is not. Pinguicula longifolia and certain forms of Pinguicula agnata are also sticky on both sides.

But overall it is a very good book and I hope everyone whose got it or gets it really enjoys it. http://s4.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif
