Just curious i changed the media of the ping.,to loose clay pellets. I found it was doing so well the leaves have grown bigger.

Robert. Do you keep it on a tray or just water it daily? Good experiment. We should be doing more of these experiments so we can find out more.

Re: growing ping.,my way
clay pellets you are sure ?
they absorb it water? commonly we use for this species and a lot of others , a calcareous substrate + akadama ( bonzaĆ® clay to 10% ). moranensis, I think , is not a species from a acid environment *biggrin2* jeff |
Re: growing ping.,my way
David i have made a hole slightly 2" above the base so there are always water held on the base. That keep the clay moist always. I water every 3-4 days and allow water to fill the top then let it drain off the excess thr' the hole.
Jeff, clay was collected from natural site. The minerals, acidic or alkaline, occured are natural occurence and will be very low in percentage. Thus it's doing well, i think so. |
Re: growing ping.,my way
these mexican species actually in dormace 'in situ' must be just slightly wet .
for all the pƮnguicula it is preferable to use the capillarity method , bottom upwards . jeff |
