Fridge Dormancy
5 Attachment(s)
I put my plant into fridge dormancy 3 months ago. The plant was put in shade and indoors a few days prior to fridge. Minimizing temperature step (25C->8C) instead of starting from 35C (as in direct sun). It was put in a covered container. I am aware that there is an article here suggesting photoperiod reduction alone. Anyway, just a try to see how it goes.
Before fridged. Cleaned and trimmed. Put in container with moist sphagnum. No fungicide. Attachment 2991 Out from fridge. No sign of fungus/mould. It still has some greens after 3 months in the dark. Attachment 2990 Cut away dead leaves. Attachment 2988 Separate into 2 plants. Attachment 2992 Potted finally. Attachment 2989 The smallest plant was leaf pulling from https://forum.petpitcher.net/showthread.php?t=3254 The plants look alive. Will update when growth resumes. |

Re: Fridge Dormancy
He said it was gradual. He took the plant and placed it in somewhere cooler before putting it in the fridge. if you do it instantly the plant will be shocked and may die.

Re: Fridge Dormancy
Yes, I tried to make it as gradual as possible. Put in shade 1 week. Then indoors with no direct light 3 days. Growth had completely stopped the last few days.
Anyway, this is a big healthy plant able to tolerate some abuse if steps are not perfect. I skip dormancy for younger plants. |
