PP Northern Group Outing Feb 2009
 

I have already written in the in the Social group maybe it didn't get noticed.

Proposed on Feb 8 or 9, we have an outing to a wild nep site somewhere in Penang state as it will not be viable to go further. Yes it involves walking. Please indicated interest.

Condition: No poaching! If you have any plan of taking any plants while we're there, perish the thought! Imagine 10 persons going at a few nep vine, we will destroy the population. We don't condone poaching and don't want to be know as a poaching group/website. We will be shun by all other CP societies. Moreover the nep we'll see are widely available in the market. Cuttings option ruled out! NO NO NO!

After the seeing wild nep there be a CP sale, exchange or giveaway after the outing. Venue for that, don't know yet.

9th is replacement holiday for Thaipusam. Since Robert says Sat and Sun only, then 8th February 2008 it is.

Venue to meet up. Think we have to find a place to deposit plants prior to walk and that is also the place to meet up and social after the walk. Better wait and see how many people first before deciding on venue.

Hee, hee, hee! I'd already been toying with the idea since I saw the first post! Sundays are my day off... and it IS only an hour and a half flight! Problem is I don't think there's a return flight for a few days which would leave me forced to endure even more plants for a couple days! :tongue:

Hmmmm, I'll have to see how my work schedule is looking, but it sure would be fun! I'm not that familiar with the borders of "Penang State", is this just the island or does it extend to the mainland as well?

You can't have the chance to hug a turtle in the wild unless those in captivity. They swim very fast, you cant catch up them once they are in "shocked"

We meet at Tg Gardens Nursery at Tg Bungah at say nine in the morning. Monkeycup has graciously agreed for us to use his place for social chats and trade activities after the walk. Thank you Eric. Btw, drinks and makan provided?:tongue:

People, the trip involves taking boat and some walking. I'll have to confirm boat. boat limit is the limit of the group. Involves walking too, up and down 2 hills. Can be quite tiring but rewarded by plenty of flora life. Our other expert is joining us too so it will be an interesting trip. Will pm you guys the location later.

Guys, I have heard that this year's Thaipusam Celebration will be pretty crowded given the fact that it falls on a Sunday hence Monday will a holiday. Many of my Hindu collegues are coming for the celebration. Propose put forward till the 15th February 2009. Okay with you? Sorry for inconvenience caused. I am more concern for Andy, Athene & Zz, Robert and Pahiopboy who has to come thru town to get to Eric's Nursery.

Actually we could come via Telok Bahang way, the distance should about the same with goingdown to town and then back up.

Change to the 15th should be fine for me for the moment.

Anyway, what's the planned ittenerary? I guess everyone should know how we are making the trip, what's planned for it, and regarding the alternative way of getting there - cost and everything.

Heard that we are meeting at TG. Gdn.
I think supposingly it should go like this:

9.00am: Meet at TG. GDN.
9.15am: Start journey. Option to have breakfast or not??
9.40am: Register at the National Park HQ.
10.00am: Start journey.....By boat / hike??
(Cost of a chartered boat is about RM 100++/ boat)
Lunch......ta pau.
There are few good spots along the journey and at the destination
Back by 2-3pm. Just a rough idea.

Perhaps BA can come out with a better one!
