This morning just notice one of the N. mirabilis var. globosa have grow one small plant from the base as below photo.

Do N. mirabilis var. globosa also grow the base as N.ampullaria?

I think all types of Nepenthes do it. It's called "basaling" by the way ;)

busy with work recently.. wil try to message wanakorn when i free..

BTW, all nep wil grow basal from time to time, especially when the main stem left slanted and the humidity is right to them. Ampularia always grow basal more frequent than any other sp. coz this is their habit.

Re: LJ_Tan - Nepenthes

For ampullaria case, it's more of basal pitchers (eventually will become carpet of pitchers) like what gracilis and distallatoria will do.

The other kind of basal will be basal off shoot, like for you globosa in this case. This will eventually grow into another plant.

Boon,
If K. Wanakorn got the same globosa "kapook" form available, I'll be interested also. I think I asked him before 1 year ago but it's no available.... hopefully he got some now but I think it'll be not cheap.
