Bog Pot

Hi all,

Trying to do a bog like garden but in a pot so I just called it 'Bog Pot' with water tray underneath. The media is perlite, peat moss and gravels.

First started on Dec 19, 2008
(starter CPs: two Mexican Pings, one Dioneae and some dews from TS (thanks) binata multifida var extreme and some burmanii)

A month after on Jan 18, 2009
(adding byblis liniflora (spreading seeds in the pot), one more ping, cephalotus (from Fauzi) *biggrin2*, some ultricularia (from Lim), d. adelae (thanks TS), d. aliciae, capilaris Pasco, coccicaulea, communis, sessilifolia)

Two month after on Feb 15, 2009
(just added d. capensis var Debbert Giant and some more ultric)

Re: Bog Pot

looks great! You got flowers to boot!

The Binata will try to dominate the airspace and the Adelae will compete with it as is already happening. I have some Binatas in my VFT pot and they just dominate the airspace!

Re: Bog Pot

Nice wijaya. Is the pot water proof or there's holes at the bottom?

Re: Bog Pot

@arvin555: you are right about binata, they are taking over so fast, will have to trim back a bit I think, they just grow so vigorously.

@all: glad you all like it, my very first one and now I am thinking of doing another one.

@David: the pot is not water proof and got several holes on the bottom, actually the pot is made from burnt clay so can actually absorb water, giving the cooling effect to the media as well also an indicator of when to water by the color of the clay. *biggrin2*

Update the condition right now, looks like the ultric is taking over the whole pot, the vft is kind of underdeveloped now, but I got two cephas growing stable in there. Enjoy

i like the pot in the photo taken on Feb 15 - that's very nice.

the latest photo seems to show the utric choking everything else - can't see much of the other CPs now.

Re: Bog Pot

Ah yes, sorry about that, as I am not a fan of Terrestrial Utrics, we all forgot that they will dominate the whole surface of the pot. Looks quite nice though, hope it is not choking anything.

The plant (drosera) on the left side of the pot it's D. Indica isn't it?

The cephs look cool and snug there!

I like that you used Clay pot, I was hoping to do this also coz the pot will make it nice and cool for the cool loving plants like your VFT and the rest.

Water tray will usualy empty fast though through evaporation.

You used Peatmoss and Perlite only right?
