My Nepenthes in a terrarium
13 Attachment(s)
Hi guys,
Someone ask me for this picture, so here it is. A brief history:- 1) Bought this from edmund last time. Filled with drosera and vft and java moss... quite nice. 2) Under my hands, neglected it for a month or 2. More I think. 3) End up all drosera and vfg died. Java moss also died. 4) All is left is these super duper nepenthes. Can you imaging, 2-3 months without light and water. 5) Started taking care of them a couple of months back and the bounce back to be very vigourous. 6) Now, time to trim... So, I took some pictures before the trimming process. BTW. The amps are starting to produce basals, so is the sanguinea. Here are the pictures. The whole terrarium - Time for trimming https://forum.petpitcher.net/attachme...achmentid=3145 The pitchers that grew up during dark periods - it is yellowins/pinkish (kinda like very light viking color)m - The photo does not show it. One hot lips - those that grew up in dark is full green. The new ones is getting redder. https://forum.petpitcher.net/attachme...achmentid=3147 New pitcher of green amp is getting larger. https://forum.petpitcher.net/attachme...achmentid=3150 Another hot lip, slightly larger one. https://forum.petpitcher.net/attachme...achmentid=3151 Green amp is developing lots of small basals. https://forum.petpitcher.net/attachme...achmentid=3153 Hot lip - clean one https://forum.petpitcher.net/attachme...achmentid=3155 I absolutely loved the colors... very nice to photograph https://forum.petpitcher.net/attachme...achmentid=3156 Slightly red speckled. Same plant, some clean, some slightly speckled. https://forum.petpitcher.net/attachme...achmentid=3157 Another clean one. https://forum.petpitcher.net/attachme...achmentid=3158 Rajah - I actually dropped this plant and broke off the lid. You can see the small pitcher to the left of the plant. https://forum.petpitcher.net/attachme...achmentid=3159 Sanguinea - getting larger and producing another plant. Oh, there is the rajah pitcher on the right (without the lid) https://forum.petpitcher.net/attachme...achmentid=3160 I loved the colors... couldn't resist another picture. https://forum.petpitcher.net/attachme...achmentid=3161 Hope you enjoy the post. Nothing much, common plants... I am working on a larger terrarium now... Collecting all the plants/equipment to get ready. BTW. This is a 2ft X 2ft X 1ft tank. Very humid til the glass fogs up. I cleaned the glass as much as I can before taking pictures. |

Re: My Nepenthes in a terrarium
I guess the humidity stays in this terrarium for a very long time. I hardly water the plants. In face, I only mist from time to time. During the busy period, never even mist.
Besides this, ferns are real hardy as well. So are cryptocoryne, because these are the remaining plants in my neglected 4 ft aquarium now. My 4ft tank - No light, no water, no cover somemore. (but brighter place) compared to my 2ft tank. Regards cj |
