btw, i heard in passing that male & female neps of the same variety ( i.e. male & female rafflesiana johor spotted ) have different pitcher shapes or markings and experts can actually tell if a plant is male or female just by looking at the pitchers. I`m just wondering if it`s true.

rgds, tarence.

« Reply #4 on Sept 23, 2007, 6:53am »http://s4.images.proboards.com/buttons/modify.gif http://s4.images.proboards.com/buttons/delete.gif I don't believe that is really true yet. For years I have been figuring out ways to distinguish them apart. I used to believe that female plants are stockier, and also that their tendril appear thicker, and that their leaves tend to be pointed out as oppose to up in the developing stages. But there have always been changes from these exceptions every time.
