Re: Flower Development

Yes, 2 flowering plants. Very informative suggestion. But one of the plant is divided from the other. They are genetically identical clones. Transferring pollen from the other is still self pollination. Each flower only lasts 2 days, with stigma receptive the second day. To ensure fertilization, I'll rub among the flowers.

The pollen grain does look whiter than other plants..:)

Week 3 - at full bloom:

Week 4 - flowers are short lived. Every flower lasts only 2 days. Stigma looks receptive the 2nd day.

Week 5 - ripening seedpods:

On the left, I have peeled off the seedpod so that the seeds lining in are visible.

The seedpods and seeds are really small.

I thought seed development failed initially. But they seem easily self-pollinated, with or without help. There were flowers that failed to have the petals opened up. Even those flowers have seeds developed. Fewer than others though.

What changes did you make?

It is very hot recent weeks. 32C indoors. Probably 35+C under direct sunlight. All my plants under 6 hour direct sunlight suffer severe sunburn. Just moved them to a place with 4 hour sunlight. The 7 month old seedlings are doing great in 2 hour sunlight.

Well actually I tried to put them in a container to block them from rain...then I forgot them and the container practically microwaved them...

It is true that flowering is exhaustive to VFT. This is how the plant look like after completing the flowering process. It is setback at least 2 months.

Will take it a while to recuperate...:)
