Hey, that's rafflesiana in the 1st, 2nd and 4th picture? Is this area in the southern part of Peninsula or around Wilayah?

David,
You're right about the Raff and the southern part of the Peninsular. I didn't have any luck in searching for Raff around Wilayah area.

Marvin1997,
Actually it was a piece of land next to the plantation. I think they burn it prevent the wild boar from nesting there.

Re: Bush Fire

I'm confused, I thought neps were like lots of other cps and thrived with occasional fires, since it removes competition and allows the plants to get more light? As long as the land is not develped, won't they regrow?

Re: Bush Fire

I see that in a few pictures that some parts of the neps are still green, while virtually nothing else is. It looks like the population will be fine.

Re: Bush Fire

Marigold, The neps wont have a chance to regrow to its former glory. If the land is alienated for plantation, then it will be followed up by further clearingaand maintenance. Later upkeep with help of weed killers. Broadleaf poison like amine 40, Garlon 250, Glyphostate etc will will them in years to come.
