They can grow in our climate! 2 part perlite: 1 part sphagnum moss as medium. Water tray 1 cm. Artificial lighting: Phillips T8 865. 14 hours light. 10 hours dark.

Re: for the road

bonjour

yes you can grow some ping in your country 'out door',nevertheless you should take some precautions.

- no very sodden substrat( rot risk), espiecially when they are in dormancy
- not under the rain , and in shaded place( or here in europe in morning sun)
- use a calcareous( gypsum) mineral substrat to have a good capillarity and not a sodden substrat.
- make to them a dormancy ( november to may here in europe) with a substrat just slightly wet

I use no sphagnum for the mexican ping or temperate ( except some one)

Very very beautifull.....

If I using 2' tank, how many T8 needs to use and how far from the light to plants?

Please advice

Thank for sharing

Re: for the road

If you grow only few plants. 1 x T8 is enough.

6-7 inches from the light.

Dear Piscesilim,

Noted.

The plant needs "light" or "heat" or both?
How do we know either enough or not?

Thank you

Light.

If red plant become green , light not enough.
