Re: Heatwave!

Just so everyone know, it drizzled for exactly 2 minutes 1/2 an hour ago.

Think I should better start singing to induce more rain!

penang is getting humidity average from 30-50% for afternoon this whole month......

i got to mist the plants at least 3 times a day, mist generator does not help much, it only helps 10% increment

I like that 'Autumn in Sungai Ara' - makes a great title for romance novel or Japan/Korea dorama ;)

[quote=bactrus;13153]Donny, I can imagine a chaotic scenario if all those incidents happened within one state.

I did see a 1 in 100 year flood occur in the middle of a drought, it rained for two weeks and then it stop. Within a month everything was bone dry.

Re: Heatwave!

Dang, 45-50 C IS hot!!!! I heard that this heat wave is rather rare and doesn't often happen in Australia.

It is raining everyday in Kuala Lumpur, and I am getting a little sick of it. The one mistake I made was putting my intermedia in an undrained pot and then water it until the soil became waterlogged. Imagine the horror when I came back from school after a heavy downpour of rain to see my intermedia having a 'swim' in peat water.............

Ah, well, my neps are enjoying life. So hows the heatwave going in Australia, Donny and Adam?

Cheers

Re: Heatwave!

Today Melbourne experienced the hottest day ever recorded by the capital city of an Australian state- 46.4 deg C.

Where I live (40kms west and inland of Melbourne) recorded a maximum temp of 48 deg C!

Due to the ~60km winds pushing in from the interior of the continent, the relative humidity registered a mere 7%.

At least 10 major bushfires rage throughout the state with many fatalities already confirmed.

All plants in my glasshouse appear to have fared well, but most of those growing outdoors in tanks receiving full sun have been burnt to a crisp. All VFTs outside now cease to exist.

At least the cool change has arrived........

Re: Heatwave!

The heatwave has ended here in South Australia yesterday. While things were bad around here we were lucky enough not suffer the firestorms the Victorians are suffering.
There are fears up to 40 people have died in the fires.
My outdoors plants have come through the heatwave quite well, most of my loss have occured in the Neps and Pings.
This on top of a 12 year drought in many parts of south east Australia.

Re: Heatwave!

wow Sean,at 48C that was extremely high. Over here(Borneo) due to the high precipitation dense cloud would be condense and transform into rain bringing the high temp down.
