Nice, you have a lot of nice raff and amp forms. It's good to see diversity.

Re: Some of my young nep pics
Hi Robert,
Nice pics and the plants look happy with their 'father'.Hope they be good children;) BTW,about the viking,if i'm not mistaken,i've seen plants with name 'Tiger' that looks exactly like this one. Hope this helps and please post the rest of your babies. |
Re: Some of my young nep pics
Thanks all for your comments. Hope the pitchers will be more stunningl once they reach maturity.
Ken, The red albo pitcher is ~9cm. This plant is still not at it's adult stage yet, I hope the pitcher will get slightly bigger in due time. Since i'm growing it outdoor in L/L conditon, I don't think I can get them to produce the size that I saw in the wild @ intermediate condition. I'm happy if they can reach 10+cm. Kit1212, Glad you like the LSM. It's more work trying to grow LSM but I think it's worth it. I got some LSM from Fauzi. You can contact him to get some. Alternatively, some mountains also have LSM at about 1000m ASL and higher, if you feel adventurous... *biggrin2* As I far as I know, there're several kind of LSM available locally, they all have different growth rate and pattern. Ali, I also suspected it's a Tiger but also saw other "Tigers" that looked different. It's still very confusing regarding this variety... I think the Thais will be more familiar with them... Thanks for your input. :1thumbup: |

Re: Some of my young nep pics
Robert,
Your plants are very well taken care and they look almost flawless. Great job. Your place must be cool at night looking at how the sphagnum moss thrive in yoru Nepethes pots. Humidity and sunlight must be perfect. Can share some pictures of your growing area? I want to learn. My plants do not look as great as yours. |
Re: Some of my young nep pics
David,
Thanks for your kind words. I try to make do of what's available for me to grow the neps. The humidity at my place fluctuates from 55%-95% according to the season and wind. Most of my neps are grown under a 50% shade cloth with photo period from sun rise till about 3pm. I guess the secret to successfully grow LSM is to water it at least twice a day (I think TS mentioned about this before if I'm not mistaken).... and mist it when able. I think it's actually more work taking care of the LSM when growing them together with nep in L/L conditon and in tropical weather. I'll share some pics of my growing area when I manage to take some pics. |
Re: Some of my young nep pics
Very nice collection!!!
How do you growth N. madagascariensis? It's lookvery healthy. Regards,Oat |
Re: Some of my young nep pics
Hi Oat,
I think you collection is more impressive with H/L and L/L nep species... :1thumbup: Mine just some regular L/L neps... :shy: Anyway, I used 70% burnt clay : 20 % perlite : 10% coco chips for N. madagascariensis. As far as I observe, I found this nep took a while to acclimitise to my new growing condition. Once it's settled down, it'll start growing with 1-2 new pitcher per month. My plant is still fairly young, still need to observe more. |
