Great plants, harris... :) The mini scriptum is not for me though, I don't quite like the flowers, which are borne in very measly numbers compared to typical scriptum... I agree with funkychips.. Please share your tips for blooming Coel mayeriana and dend smilliae.. Thanks.. :)

Re: Blooming this week...

For coel like rochussenii, i put them under 70% shade and feed it weekly with high nitrogen fertiliser. after that, i stopped the high N feed and start with high Phosporos and Potassium (K) feed. after a month of this feed, I move the plant to an area with only 30% shade. The idea is to 'stress' the plant to induce flowering by giving it more light. after the flowers has wilted, i start with the same feeding regime again...

for pandurata and mayeriana, the flower is from new side shoot/keiki/anak. so keep feeding the plant with high N fertiliser to promote new growth. when there is a new bulb present, feed it with high P and K fertiliser.

As for the dendro smilliae, I'm not sure what trigger it to bloom. Maybe the big drop in temperature because it has been raining in penang almost everyday for 4 weeks and now the dry season has started.
