growing live sphagnum moss

a plain sheet of plastic laid over a shallow polystyrene box, thin layer of cocopeat top up with cuttings of tip live sphagnum moss. Left in the open shaded by some trees. 2 months later noted growth became compact and some have overgrown on the left. Now i can have endless supply - take tip cuttings and spread over my neps pots:wub:

Wow... Oddly enough, it doesn't look like live sphag from where I'm sitting.. Looks like Japanese roses (portulaca) instead... :p

if i prepare another box, replant all the tip cuttings, 2-3 months later i will be able to add extra 2 boxes, that will be 4 in total. I can keep on multiplying if i don't use them

Upon closer look, you will see it's a SM, just different species...

This is what I have originated from Borneo

These SM below originated from Peninsular Malaysia (3 types)

Hope Robert won't mind me doing this... :shy: Thanks.

can the LSM condition can be the indicator to the moisture level in the potting media? ie i wonder if the LSM is fresh and green the moisture level is high and while they are yellowish, it means time to water the plants?
