Cephs in China
Sometimes I do think I might regret later on...that I will have to smash the pot in order to transplant the plants.

Re: Cephs in China
awesome! it looks great with the moss on it in a hill-like shape. how long did it take for you to establish it?
when i saw your topic, i took it literally but when i saw the pic of u ceph, i realised.. lol:2thumbup: |
Re: Cephs in China
Thanks, Shawn and Malowie.
The Cephs are just coming back after a possible case of root mealies. Had larger pitchers but those suddenly turned yellow and limp. I need to keep an eye on them in case it is really the bugs. They were growing well in plastic pots and I transplanted them in April. The mound was created when I first potted them up. The moss is deliberately planted on the surface. |
Re: Cephs in China
Nice way of potting your ceph Cindy. Kinda nice with the little hill with moss. A suggestion... How about planting some terrestrial Utricularia in there

Re: Cephs in China
very nice Cindy. this reminds me of another artwork of yours involving pings.....heheh.
that piece could have been titled `chinese on pings`. |
Re: Cephs in China
David, I am not sure which terrestrial utric would work. 'Cos terrestrial ones are still grown rather wet like U. sandersonii. And the epiphytic ones are mostly cool growing?
Ken, actually it isn't time consuming at all. The moss is planted as a few specks (~2mm) of green on the mound and spreads over time. Cephs are potted this way to prevent rotting at the crown area as well as to encourage the plant to send out offshoots. In the wild, some of them grow on slopes. Very interesting. |
Re: Cephs in China
Latest addition.
Enjoy the pitcher while it lasts 'cos the plant is actually cutting and the pitcher will be the first to go when it start producing roots. http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...tus_maroon.jpg |
Re: Cephs in China
Cool! Nice pitcher, was it originally exposed to full sunlight?
Cheers |
Re: Cephs in China
The colour of the pitcher was much darker and the original plant was not in direct sunlight but under shadecloth. This clone seems to colour up in shadier conditions. I hope it does well for me.

Re: Cephs in China
I wish you luck then!

Re: Cephs in China
Cindy, you should share some of the "pictures"... (wink... wink... you know which pictures... :) )
