Re: Nepenthes Ugly?
I saw the truncata pitcher and thought ... "wow what a nice pitcher" ... so I'm still astonished about this article and neps under the top10 of ugly plants. I think this guy who wrote this got offended by the sexual symbolism which is involved in the pitchers. Some people are just afraid of sexuality.

Some people might see here more than only a beautifull pitcher http://www.cpukforum.com/forum/index...howtopic=32481 http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q...7/P1070213.jpg |
Re: Nepenthes Ugly?
Boris, think you might be right or people are simply inexposed. They're more used to the usual type of flowers like gerberas. roses, carnations and plants likeivy, tomatoes. People just don't know how to handle unusual things so they just place it on their "I don't like list" in so categorise as ugly. my two cents worth.

Re: Nepenthes Ugly?
I think its a bit weird considering that Borneo Exotics has already won gold medals at the Chelsea flower show (the most prestigious flower show in the UK). You can read an article about it here : http://sundaytimes.lk/070603/Plus/pls15.html
Strange that the RHS gives gold medals to exhibits with the top 10 ugliest plants. |
