Effects of pitcher fluid on us

Hi everyone

Have you guys ever had pitcher fluid fall all over your hand and your legs while your moving your plants or trimming them? Well i've experience this a couple of times already..And they seem to irritate my skin by making it itchy and stuff:sweating::thumbdown:..So what did you feel when the fluid has drop on you?

I tasted some pitcher fluid once. I made sure that it was from a pitcher that just opened, so there were no insects in it. The taste of the fluid was rather sweet, as I recall. It had absolutely no effect on me except that for a couple of days I had an inexplicable desire to eat flies.

uncontaminated fluid of unopen pitcher was good for human consumption. The fluid good to quench thirst, was thought to cure diarrhoes, tummy upset, reduce body heat,etc...and ken the irritant must have come from the rot by ants and insects. The smell was pungent isn't it?

It gives me the creeps when pitcher fluid pill on my hands everytime I handle them. Hehehe but I like shaking the fluid before the pitcher open.

ken, pitcher fluid won't dissolve your hand :P But make sure you don't have any open wounds or scratches. I think there is a likelihood of being infected by bacteria growing in the pitcher.. so next time you get any pitcher fluid on yourself, just rinse it off with running water immediately.. :)

What about Sarra nectar? They taste rather sweet,I love it(but I worry about it not catching insects afterward)!!!Anyone trying to collect them and smear them on bread?

I thought 1 type of sarra(flava I think) got a kind of drug inside its nectar for easier prey.

Well my flava is full of nectar...You can even see it at the throat and on the top of the floppy lid..And no i don't think nectar will affect us in any ways....Even if it affects bugs its too little to affect us in my own thought..

There is chemical in some of the sarra (not purpurea and maybe psittacina) it make insect 'drunk' and can even kill ants out right. I do know the name of the chemical but I can't remeber it. Sorry.
