Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
Wah..Before arrive you have add already mei...?Good good..
|
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
The Ping and the drosera arrived last Friday. A VFT and some darlingtonia seeds is arriving this Monday. Some Sarra seeds have been planted.
|
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
Nice! Your list is growing well.
Make sure you stratify the Darlingtonia seeds. |
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
Added Dionaea Muscipula 'Red Dragon/Akai Ryu' that will arrive next Tuesday.
28/9/2008 |
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
oooooooooooooo, I can't wait to see pics of that when you get it. Congrats on yet another addition to your growlist.
|
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
I'm not sure its a pink venus. Maybe a red dragon or something but its almost pinkish in colour instead of red when I saw the photo.
|
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
I think the VFT is a red dragon or akai ryu instead of pink venus.
|
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
Well that will still be a nice addition to your growlist. Even if it isn't a pink venus.
|
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
Added N. truncata and N. rafflesiana(unhealthy)
15/10/08 |
Re: Plantlover's Small CP List
I'll be adding a special nep once it survives at my house. I won't include it until it finally arrives and survives.(I give it 1 week to recover)
|
Re: Plantlover's Small CP List
Anyone know what nep is that based on the clue.
|
Re: Plantlover's Small CP List
I would guess that it is a rajah. I suggest that it may take a lot more than a week though to judge if it is going to survive. Hope it does survive for you. Good luck.
|
Re: Plantlover's Small CP List
Ting ting. Strath answered it. I know it will be tough but I don't expect it to pitcher. (It may grow though but pitcherless.
|
Re: Plantlover's Small CP List
I'm wondering where to put it. Somewhere shady. And probably mist it with ice water.
|
Re: Plantlover's Small CP List
It will arrive maybe on Monday- Wednesday. Heres my growing condition for my plants:
Daytime temperature maybe 30-35%(shady area) Nighttime temperature maybe 20 above. Humidity ? maybe 70%? Its dewy and damp everynight. Light. Very bright. Moderate bright(shady area) |
Re: Plantlover's Small CP List
Well I have not tried it yet due to the high temps I get through my summer but from what I can gather from books and others that have grown it, it performs best with day time temps in the mid twenties and then droping to around 15 degrees at night. This can be difficult to maintain year round but I hope that at least you can provide this for part of the year and have the plant thrive and then at least get a temperature range that will allow it to survive for the rest of the year. Good luck with it Aaron, you have quite a challenge ahead.
|
Re: Plantlover's Small CP List
Thanks Strath
|
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
First of all, congratulations! You have a lot of CPs.
I sincerely wish you luck in getting more CPs. Sigh, I only have 2! I notice you have a lot of nep. That's very good, supporting malaysian plants! well, more or less southeast asian plants....... But still, you have a very good number of other species. Again, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! cheers |
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
I don't have lots of neps. Look at bifurcatum's list. Even more. Actually I love darling tonia, VFT, heliamphora, cephalotus and drosera.
|
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
Added N. Rajah (Next week) but unsure if it will survive.

Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
Wow so fast going for N rajah????So how you're providing highland temps???Anyway grats
Ken |
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
Natural temp. My day temperature are hot but less than 40 Celsius. Night temperatures are about 25 Celsius. Humidity not sure but its always dewy everywhere.
|
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
Wah so no ultra highland temps ah???Well maybe you'll be the first to grow a thriving N rajah in LL conditions.Nah our weather does not reach even near the 40's normally even on hot days max 36.
Ken |
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
I'll just mist my plants with ice cool water. No ultra highlander condition. Only intermediate or a little highland condition.
|
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
icicicicicicicicicicicicicicic.Last time i spray my neps with water which is in the fridge hehehehehe. Now no need already.
Ken |
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
I mist my darlingtonia seeds with a mister with.....cold water from my house....I think its called water dispenser? and ice cubes from the freezer and then I spray like crazy until my garden is all wet(the walls, the plants, the shelves, the pots, the grass, the air)
|
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
keep your rajah in a cool condition. how big is it? your day temp. is rather high, perhaps find a cooler place, anyways, congrats. CONGRATS! Good luck in the rajah, it needs cool temperature and not ice cool water but the ice water spraying technic is fine. need lots of space if your rajah pitchers, don't 4get that night temperature is important. do you have the savage garden book from peter d'amato, its a good book........
Cheers |
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
No I don't have that book. My rajah is coming this wednesday or Thursday. I ordered a S size plant from Fauzi. He says it is 2-3 inche excluding tendril. I'm going to hang it with my other neps( but beside a robust palm tree) but not enough shade. Nut my plac is usually very cloudy. Its raining right now. I brought a thermometer to my garden and its fun to see it. 36 C then 32 C then 35 C then 29 C then 30 C then 27 C. My temperature is almost unpredictable during the day. Night is 25 C if rain less than that.
|
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
cold, but rajah needs temperature of 17 C for optimum growth in the night. Try not to hang it, the lower pitchers can grow VERY large and heavy, but you can hang it now until it grows pitchers. I think air cond is the best, setting the temperature at 16 celsius will really help. That is if the person in the air conditioned room doesn't get frozen.......northiana is another large pitcher too, but lowland.
Cheers, gtg, hope i've been helpful |
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
I think the 'filiformis' is an adelae. BTW the rajah may arrive this Wednesday. I'm still finding a humidity meter.

Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
Hi plantlover,
A humidity meter is called Hygrometer. It is used to measure relative humidity of the environment. Go to pet shop that does sell reptiles and you should be able to find them. The analog hygrometer is cheap (less than RM10). Digital ones are more expensive. I got one by the brand name exo-terra. |
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
The problem is Batu Pahat is a small boring town and no reptile shop. I asked my 2 friends whether they have them but they don't have too. 1 of my friends ask me to find it in a pharmacy(i don't think got).
|
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
 Aaron..maybe u can post that "d.adalae or filiformis"...then we will help u identify it....
|
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
ok, cool daytime and nightime, BRRRRRRR!! I hate cold, becuz of that, I always get asthma. Farmacy got? no don't think so, our human body doesn't have much to do about humidity. reptile shops are the best place to find them, but if yu can't get, then gotta try some place that has anything to do with reptiles, cuz mostly thats where they sell.....
Cheers |
Re: Plantlover's Tiny CP List
You hate cold??I love cold. Cold, ice, snow, winter. I love them all. Without cold I will suffer.
|
