Ali,
Some of the N Gracilis sure don't look like those typical N Gracilis. BTW, those purple color leaves turn into green colour after the rain. :bored:

Thanks Wong for sharing with us all these pictures. It's always a thrill for me to see them in the wild.

I love gracilis, even though they don't look spectacular at all. It is their ability to grow and survive almost anywhere that I am attracted to. I can see from this site that the media is really sandy. It's like 80% sand and 20% fine clay etc. The first picture is a beauty. Looks like a dark brown pitcher and the color is so even throughout the pitcher. Does the other pitchers on this plant look like that?

By the way, have you seen any pure red gracilis before? I think it would be a beauty! So far I've seen black, green, maroon and mix of green and maroon, but not a pure red gracilis.

Re: Wild N Gracilis of Melaka

David,
So far, all the N Gracilis seems to have a least two different colour pitcher. The most common colour is the green colour and chocolate colour(?).
No true red N Gracilis seen yet, only heavily sun burn pitcher found. The two colour pitcher seems to be quite common, I found them in Selangor, Melaka and Johor.
The stem and the leaves in the last few pictures are the ones that I think is not normal.

Hmm... could be a hybrid?? Any other nep species found there?

Re: Wild N Gracilis of Melaka

Could be.. some N Gracilis hybrid cross back to N Gracilis? Or maybe a mutant. *biggrin2* There's no other neps found in that area. :bored: It is a small area and most of the surrounding area have been developed. :glare: However, there's a small hill about 1 to 2 km away from the site.
