byblis seeds

hi everyone. not sure if this has been raised before so i hope you will bear with me ...

i have byblis pods that burst open before i can collect the seeds so invariably i have seeds stuck by the dozens on the sticky dew.

are these seeds worth collecting or does the dew damage the seeds and render them useless?

TIA!

My take on this is that you can try to get the seeds out, there is no danger about dew damage but try not to damage the part that makes the dew. The plant can easily make more dew anyway.

It's a shame to let those seeds go to waste. Now I wonder if this happens in nature all the time? That would not be productive at all for the plant.

I don't think it would disadvantage the plant at all. I think this would help with the dispersal of the plant. Most Byblis are annual plants so they die at the end of the wet season. If some seeds make it to the ground when the seed ripens this could be dispersed by ground water. Those seeds that are stuck to the plant would not be dispersed until the plant dies. As the plant dies at the end of the wet season this is more likely to remain at the original site. This would increase the spread of the plant.

Just my thought on it.
