hi all fellow hobbyist, do you all think we should restart our monthly competition?:smile:

well, take time to develop...as usual, cann't expect to come out and straight away get good respond rate considering that more veterans slowing down on foruming due to work load or other commitment...

Maybe start out with nep competition first...And put it in the nepenthes section instead of the competition section like other forums cos you get thee most attention in that section

We need someone responsible to organize, run and maintain it. Do we have volunteer(s)?? When we have someone that can spend the time and effort, then we can proceed.

Volunteers
1. C Way 2. plantlover 3. LJ_Tan 4. 5. It's very simple, you will be like a moderator on the competition thread. We'll probably use a 3rd party polling system to get the voting results (if PP don't have it's own). The winner's plant and pitcher pics will then be posted on the "Hall of Fame" thread. Your responsibility will be to organize it (including checking for multiple voting by same member via different user name), process the polling data and post the winner pics in the Hall of Fame. Once we got enough volunteers, we can go into more details on this for those that volunteered. Thanks for making this happen in PP. :1thumbup: |

I don't think its necessary to have prizes. Nothing wrong with it but i don't think we have enough resources to have prizes all the time...(maybe we do maybe we dont im not sure :p ) We can just have winners and dedicate a subforum for all the winners like this http://pitcherplants.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=fame

Let's just do this as monthly pic competition, winners will have the pics of their proud pitchers posted on the "Hall of Fame". We see how we progress from here...

For short voting period and submission. What we can do is, we allow forumer to submit their picture in 1 month time. Next month, then, we start the voting for... may be 2 weeks time?
example, from 1st oct ~ 31st Oct --> photo submission for Oct 2010 from 1st Nov ~ 15th Nov --> Voting for Oct 2010 competition from 1st Nov ~ 30 Nov --> photo submission for Nov 2010 from 1st Dec ~ 15th Dec --> Voting for Nov 2010 competition |

Thanks for keeping things moving forward BA.
I mentioned before that we may try a third party voting system (if PP doesn't have it's own)... here's a link to Condorcet Internet Voting Serive (CIVS) which I think we should take a closer look at. Those resposible for running the monthly competition will discuss which voting system they prefer to use. |

Below will be term and conditions for new competition.
Rule will same as previous GENERAL COMPETITION DETAILS with some modification as below 1. Photo must submit to Competition Committee by PM or email a. caseyhoo - caseyhoo@yahoo.com2. Photo submission will be 1 month time. Voting will start for 2 weeks for the next month. 1st oct ~ 31st Oct --> photo submission for Oct 20103. End of the month, Competition Committee members will compile all photo and create a voting thread. If the above is agree, we will create a new thread to officialy announce it... Lets make it work!!!!
