Nepenthes x Ventrata flower

2 Attachment(s)
Hi

I've got a flower. I think this is ventrata. Possible female? (Don't have much experience in sexing them)

Would appreciate it if any of you could advice me on the above, perhaps what to do next?

Just want to inquire, what have this hybrid being cross before? Can't seem to find much info on this part.

Actually, I do not have much preference. Sure, why not. When it manage to open up, will let you know. Maybe it will be male? ;-)

Just wondering, how many hybrids can I create from 1 flower stocks? Any special way to take care of the plant during this time. I know that sometimes plants take a lot of stress when fruiting. My adeniums looks miserable til now after fruiting.

Hi cj

Your ventrata does look positively a female to me...and ventrata is such a hardy plant it might come out with small pitchers at this time cause most of the energy is send to the flower..As for pollinating just take a tookpick with the pollen at the tip and put it on the stigma or wateva receptors i guess.....I don't know how but hope you'll find out cause i wanna use up my miranda pollen..

You've got a girl, Loong.*biggrin2**biggrin2**biggrin2* Congrats.
Ventrata is a cross between ventricosa and alata. I think the ventrata in the market are mostly female.

Its a girl. I think I may still have some miranda pollen but I don't think they are fresh anymore.

Good to hear that it is a girl. :) Gonna wait for the flower to open.

Thanks plantlover, Ken offered me Miranda pollen as well.

BTW. Just want to know, can 1 flower stalk hybrid with more than 1 type of pollen? Also, how much seed does a flower produce once pollinated (Getting greedy here) ;-)

I've searched all over the internet but could not find any hybrid with ventrata as an ingredient (except 1 or 2 only). I guess it is not very popular as an ingredient. Someone here posted a hybrid with Ventrata seeds giveaway previously. How did it go? I guess to young to tell anything.

Hi Ken

Not to worry. If got seeds, I will give away most of them. My track record with seeds have not been that good. I am more worried now about raising the flower and pollinating it. Can't find many good resources about this topic.

IIRC, one flower produces one seedpod which contains multiple seeds.
