SPINIES!
These are not everyone's cup of tea. Most originated from arid inhospitable areas in certain part of the world especially Africa.
Some are really wicked and cause severe pain if mishandled. Mostly are Agaves and Aloes........... http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...t/DSCF1687.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...t/DSCF1691.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...t/DSCF1682.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...t/DSCF1712.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...t/DSCF1699.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...t/DSCF1730.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...t/DSCF1735.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...t/DSCF1701.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...t/DSCF1716.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...t/DSCF1723.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...t/DSCF1703.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...t/DSCF1696.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...t/DSCF1729.jpg |
Re: SPINIES!
Nice Agaves! Do remember; they can get HUGE! Sometimes spines can really help! Here's a shot of some Agaves that I started as 1/4" pups about 5-7 years ago. I recently transplanted them into a landscape where I needed to keep people from climbing over a wall and entering a very 'open' house without a back wall;

Re: SPINIES!
I can see you are using some of them as a barrier at your fencing to ward off thieves and robbers. :) I would do that too if I have a garden.
Nice an interesting plants. I particularly like the one on the fourth picture although the rest are also unique. |

Re: SPINIES!
Shawn,
Those furcreas are huge!. Have you tried with Agave americana? Was told they could grow even larger. Sure will make any intruder think twice:1thumbup: |
Re: SPINIES!
May I know what is the environment to keep them well? Mainly refer to those small plant sp. that sell in Jaya Jusco. Same as how we keep cactus?
