Where to get
Hi heliamphora experts...Just asking cause after looking up some pics realised that they have very nice looking pitchers when they mature which i know can take forever...But anyways i was thinking of getting a heliamphora but i don't know where and averagely how much....I was thinking of putting it in my chiplak highland terrarium...Any species will do best if its cheap...

Re: Where to get
Hi Ken,
I know a guy in Melbourne who grows them through TC and is able to post overseas. A flask is about $40 Australian and it contains at least 10 plants. He has a website that I have included here but he doesn't update it very often so if you are interested you will need to email him. Cheers. http://home.alphalink.com.au/~andre/cp.htm |
Re: Where to get
Maybe we can get a group purchase or something?
Adam, is this the same guy that you got the heliamphora from sometime back? |
Re: Where to get
The other cost you need to know. This is what Andre Cleghorn replied to my query:

Re: Where to get
Also the tc plants you are getting are very small. About 2 in tall at best. It takes 3-4 years before they produce adult pitchers.
It is better to pay A$20-$30 for plants from Exotica Plants or Triffid Park OR US$20-20 from BE. Their plants are bigger. Choong |
Re: Where to get
woah... that's a bomb!

Re: Where to get
If there's a group purchase from Triffid Park, I'm going to buy a big cobra.

Re: Where to get
Well.....I most think if U like it and thinks it is nice,GO AHEAD.

Re: Where to get
Choong, I just want to clarify with you... My understadning is that we do not need phytosanitary certificates if we are bringing tissue culture flask of plants into Malaysia as the plants and agar in the flask are sterile.
If this is so, each plant will only cost AU$0.80 for 60 plants (6 flask). |
Re: Where to get
David,
That is my understanding too. But all reputable foreign nursery goes by the book. They insist on doing the phytosanitary certification because some importing countries (like Australia and US) are very strict and impose hefty fine on the importers. So if you have friends going to Australia, you can buy off from Andre Cleghorn, and have you friends bring them back. But beware that Andre Cleghorn don't sell off the shelf. He needs a few weeks to prepare and grow the tcs in the flasks. Choong |

Re: Where to get
Also Thomas Carow sells a bench of plants, including Heliamphoras. But a hindrance could be, that shipping will cost 20€ with a minimum order value of 80€.
